{Variation on a Theme - Chloe's Black Apple Doll}

Photobucket

On Monday my sweet little niece Chloe turned two and being the belated auntie that I am, I just got her present made this week. I had planned to do it last weekend but that turned out to be impossible because I chose to value people over tasks (Love you Bryn & Kyle!). In any case, happy belated birthday Chloe! It's the birthday that keeps giving. Besides, this way my gift won't get lost in all of the others, right?

I titled this post variation on a theme because this isn't my first Black Apple Doll. If you're interested in checking out a more detailed post on my experience making my first Black Apple Doll, read

For this post, I'm going to just highlight the variation I made on Chloe's baby - she's got ruffles!

This fun addition was super easy. I made some { Fabric Ribbon }

Then I sewed a line down the center of my ribbon with the stitch length the longest possible and the tension set at the highest to create a gather. Then pin your ruffle in place

and sew. Just sew right over the line you used to gather the ribbon and then remove the gathering seam with a seam ripper (it should be obvious as it's the longer loose stitch).

And that's it! A fun and simple variation on a Black Apple Doll's dress.

Okay, she may need one more variation. I may put a flower in her hair too... I don't know, we'll see (I'm hearing Will Ferrel in my head as I say that - Old School may never get old).

Did you get to work on anything this week? What?

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

I'd love to hear from you, please drop a line in the comment section.
