{ What's for Brunch? }


What are you up to this weekend? Brunch plans perhaps? Maybe just a lazy Saturday or Sunday? Well let me take the work out of planning a special breakfast or brunch menu for you. Here's what we'll be serving our guests tomorrow morning:


Saturday Morning Brunch Menu
Bacon
Fruit
Batdorf & Bronson Ethiopian Coffee
Champagne

In an effort to keep it simple and low key I'm using things that we have around the house and that aren't too labor intensive; which ruled out these chocolate-banana donuts from Better Homes and Gardens, darn! They look oh so delicious, but a little too labor intensive for this weekend.

Now for the Veggie Frittata, I will be taking this recipe for Mini Veggie Frittatas from Parents magazine and "growing it up." I'll be doubling the recipe and doing one large frittata using the traditional frittata cooking method. I have all of the ingredients but mozzarella, so I think that I'll be using feta instead (this is the grown-up version) so I don't have to go to the store.

Next comes the bacon, which I picked up at the Olympia Farmer's Market this morning, a yummy treat.

As for the banana bread, I've got three ripe bananas just begging to be used. And to make the banana bread special, I'll make some sweetened yogurt cheese to top it off using the fresh yogurt I just made yesterday.

I also picked up coffee from the local micro-roaster, Batdorf and Bronson, while I was as the market and this will round out our breakfast. On top of that, we have a bottle of champagne that our neighbor gave us if we feel inclined to drink it.

Finally, our friends are bringing the fruit.

So there you go! A simple brunch menu, high on taste and class without too much fuss. Have a great weekend, I know we will; enjoy!
